Consistent Prayer

What is it that makes us so inconsistent in our prayer lives.. In our lives, period? One moment we feel as if we can conquer the world and the next, we are confused why God even chose us. You know what I think... Its unchecked emotions. We are told in Romans 8:14 that those that are led by the Spirit of God are called MATURED SONS of God. This call of maturity is not an easy one. Its just not at all.

There are days I wake up and my mood is just not the best. It isn't that anyone has done anything wrong and it isn't that something is going wrong in my life, Im just not FEELING. Other times, it is the things that I am constantly dealing with when it comes to people or things in my life. Either way, they have a way of messing with my emotions that if goes unchecked, they will be all over the place.

Do you get what I am saying? Have you ever felt like this for just no reason at all or for many "justifiable" reasoning? At times it is difficult to work pass those feelings because, in the moments that we are feeling them, they feel 100% real. It is our sinful nature that craves to just be left to its devices. Its devices that lives by the seat of its emotions that never desires consistency...that whatever it desires, it does but the truth is that we do not learn how to fight for anything. Often the first place we learn to be consistent is in us...in our emotions.

Think about it. If you do not learn to be consistent in your emotions, you will never have a job because some days you wake up with NO desire to clock in and out of a time clock but if you want a consistent paycheck, it requires consistent working. It is the same as our prayer lives. Without consistent prayer, we never obtain consistent answers.

There are days it would seem that praying is not the answer and that it would be better to just not pray but I tell you consistency matters. It is why Matthew 7:8 is so important:

"8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened."

It is the "keep" in our prayer lives that produces the consistency and the fervency needed to see answered prayer.

I pray that you would remain consistent as you pray and as you confess the word. I know it can be difficult at times to remain focused on the promises of God when what is around appears to contradict the word that God has spoken but that's FAITH. It is our ability to see beyond the apparent lacking thereof in the natural and see that God has already given it spiritually. Its not how we feel but rather what we know to be true of God...HE WILL DELIVER
